Mum does her knitting, Dad goes to work, the son goes to war
When he's finished the war
He'll go to work with his Dad
The war goes on Mum goes on she does her knitting
Dad goes on he goes to work
The son gets killed he doesn't go on
Dad and Mum go to the graveyard
It seems to them that's what we're for
Life goes on life with its knitting its war its work
Work war knitting war
Work work work
Living with the graveyard.
(From the French of Jacques Prévert)

Mum watches telly, Dad gets his dole, then he watches telly
The son goes out on his Honda
When he comes in he'll watch telly
The telly goes on
The son doesn't even get killed he goes on
The telly goes off
They go off too to bed
It seems to them that's what we're for
Working fighting
Living dying's telly
Like being buried.
